The Super Tug Lloydsman Ship No 509.
Ships built 1946 to 1984
From the end of the War Henry Robb shipbuilders continued on the fine tradition of building the work horses of the maritime world, a lot of very fine ships went on to have long careers at sea and served the purpose that they were designed and built for very well.
The Leith Shipyard was renowned for building difficult one off type vessels the kind of ship that required real shipbuilding skills, of which the Leith yard had no shortage at the time.
I have only shown the actual ships that were built in the yard during this period on the following pages.
For a full detailed list of all yard numbers and vessels built you can visit the Leithbuiltships blog.
On each ships page will be a history along with the ships technical details, you will find all the known details of the ship here.
You will also find on each ships page the stories from the men and women who sailed on the ships.
If the yard number is not shown then it means that the number was allocated to something other than a ship, a barge or a bridge link pontoon for example.
